Rough Bank is a nature reserve located near Stroud in Gloucestershire. An unimproved limestone grassland site, it’s home to rare and endangered species – especially butterflies, including the very rare Duke of Burgundy. Currently managed by the Gloucestershire Branch of Butterfly Conservation, Rough Bank is part of the UK’s Back from the Brink programme. Walking the Land’s video is a part of our on-going project with Back from the Brink that documented and interpreted the site over several seasons.
